This is a project for my Senior Studio class. The assignment was to reinterpret a video game of my choice (The Ocarina of Time). I chose to retell and condense the story of how Link collects all three spiritual stones in the beginning of the game. This was the most fun I've ever had with linoleum cuts.

I love this. It's hard for me to make super cute things without them being cheesy (these AREN'T cheesy). These are not only cute but they have a sincerity to them as well. great job
ReplyDelete*thumbs up!* You should sell prints!
ReplyDeleteLove them. You really capture the spirit of it. Love the colours and designs. I'd buy a set
ReplyDeletethese are adorable
ReplyDeleteThese are so awesome! You got so much good detail in the prints too! I'm a big fan of this game, pretty much grew up with this one game. :)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant! They really capture the essence of the game in a new style.
ReplyDeleteGreat work Vikki!
ReplyDeletebest,
Sterling
i love ocarina of time. good job!!
ReplyDeleteYou really gave this great childhood game a lot of justice. Wow! Seriously, this (and the rest of your work here) is phenomenal. :D
ReplyDeleteKeep up the awesome work!
I'm in love with this, really, hope you don't mind me printing it and putting it together like a fairy tale that one day I will tell to my kids *_*
ReplyDeleteAre they actual hand-made prints? I'd definitely consider buying an actual hand made print.
ReplyDeleteAnyhow, GREAT job. They really look incredible. (followed a link here from Kotaku).
I want to plagiarise this all over my little brothers bedroom wall :D
ReplyDeleteYes! Any way I can download hi-res versions of these for output? I have two small boys that would LOVE to have these hanging in their room! Awesome work!
ReplyDeleteThese drawings are excellent, with a very quirky looking art style and all. Are there any plans to retell the second half of the game's story, the part with the sages and medallions? Because I'd love to see that.
ReplyDeletethese are awesome! I wish I had made them! <3
ReplyDeleteThis is awesome! It would be so cool to see this as a real children's book! My two-year-old son came running across the room to see them!
ReplyDeleteWow..just wow..I am speechless..I would love to see this as a real book..I would so buy it.
ReplyDeleteWhoa whoa whoa. Link can't acquire the Hylian Shield let alone wield it against Queen Gogoma.
ReplyDeletethat is simply amazing. i love linoleum cuts, although i don't love making them, and to use that for zelda is such a good idea. it really helps give it an old feel as though this happened ages ago. i've already set these as my desktop background.
ReplyDeleteThese are beautiful. I'd buy a couple if you sold them as prints fo sho
ReplyDeleteI found these in a roundabout way… Just wanted to comment, they are beautifully done. Ocarina of Time is one of my all-time favorite games, and the one which launched me deeper into the series when I was young. You did it justice. :)
ReplyDeleteI really can't tell how much I love this. I love Zelda, especially Ocarina of Time and I think you really captured the spirit of this game. Do you also sell them as prints? Couldn't find them on inPrint. I would be glad to get a reply :) contact@tigalina.de
ReplyDeleteOmg! these are really amazing..!! i luv ur work!! <3 really I luv Zelda since i was child
ReplyDeleteAwesome!!
ReplyDeletePlease publish and turn it into a children's book! I would definitely buy it for my kid :)
ReplyDeleteThis is amazing! And in linoleum?! Oh man, I'm so envious of people who are so good with that (me and linoleum don't get along very well). And yeah, I know you did this pic a long time ago but I still had to say how much I love it (my fave part is your choice of colors. It really added to the sort of children's storybook quality).
ReplyDeleteStumbled across your artwork on Alphacoders, and knew there was a missing piece, so I tracked it back to you! Thanks for sharing this amazing piece of artwork, and keep up the great work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the kind words. I'm so glad you like it!
DeleteCongratulations on your excellent work and thank you so much for sharing such high resolution images, that's extremely generous. These are totally getting printed and hung in my daughter's room after we move. Let the world know if you wanna start selling official prints, we'd support you!
ReplyDeleteAw that's so great! I hope your daughter enjoys them!
